Students And Politics a Global Scenario

The student community, being young and energetic, has a fire, which at the touch of a spark ignites into a very sensuous and passionate matter. They, being young have no patience, are lively and malleable. In the current global scenario, the trend of students actively participating in politics began in the early 20th century, when there were a lot of wars taking place in the global scenario. The elders being busy with their bread earning, they actively encouraged the youngsters to enter the arena of politics. Political parties at that time started enlisting the support of the young students who organized themselves happily, to help one party or the other.

However, once the global turmoil situations cooled down, it was to be reconsidered if students should be allowed or courage to enter politics. Some sections of society now started believing that students should stay away from politics and keep to their study schedules only. While the society kept debating on this issue, the politician took the younger generation as their work cum energy tanks and this participation of students in politics has come to stay.

There is of course nothing without advantages and disadvantages, so does this involvement of students in politics. There are both serious disadvantages and may be few advantages too of students being on the center stage of politics. While the students, have primarily entered college for studies they get distracted from their prime objective and become entangled in the dirty game of politics.

Corruption Politics And Democracy

Corruption, Politics and Democracy

For centuries saints and sages have urged the people to eliminate graft and corruption from private as well as public life; there have been countless sermons against this deep-rooted menace that has eaten into the vitals of society, distorted all values and made mincemeat of morality, truth and virtue. But the evil has grown to gigantic proportions and there is hardly any sphere of social, economic, political and even religious activity that is free from graft, deception and corruption of some kind. Like the air we breathe, it has become all-pervasive and entered every aspect of life to such an extent that it is now regarded as a fact of life and an evil we have to live with. In fact, a time has come when very few eyebrows are raised when we are informed of a case of blatant bribery; it is so common, so usual and all too familiar. We give and take bribes in the sphere of education, government and private service, all branches of administration, trade and commerce, industrial activity; scrupulous-honesty is rare; even temples and other places of worship are not free of it. Most of our politicians and legislators indulge in it without any qualms of conscience.

Richard Simon Of Chicago Provides Fascinating Stories on Chicago Politics

Richard Simon loves Chicago politics. Being a lifelong Chicagoan, the guy can appreciate the completely unique brand of nuttiness that is Chicago politics. He doesn’t actually consider himself to be a political person but it’s challenging to live in Chicago and not be aware of the inanities, the personalities, the scandals, the Daley Dynasty. “It is remarkable, how much power the mafia had in Chicago politics in the early 20th century,” Simon said. The truth is, in the 1920s many Chicago policemen were shown to make more money from mob pay offs than off their policeman’s salary.

“Chicago’s Democratic Machine has had a hold on the city for pretty much a century,” Simon told us. “And inside that machine, there were sharp ethnic lines drawn.” Neighborhoods were managed by the ethnic groups that lived there – Irish, Polish, Italian and more. “The Daley family is to Chicago what the Kennedy family is to the United States,” Simon said. “The two lengthiest serving mayors of this city are Richard J. Daley and his son Richard M. Daley.” Richard M. Daley has been mayor of Chicago for 21 years and decided not to seek reelection in the recent mayoral race. He’s going to be succeeded by former White House Chief of staff Rahm Emmanuel. “You have to go back nearly a hundred years to find a mayor of Chicago that is not a Democrat, the machine runs the politics in this city,” Simon told us.
